As part of a larger effort to provide financial aid for all students, campus journalists across the country joined the call for immediate relief in the form of P10,000 aid on June 3.
The College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) posted its statement on their social media accounts last Thursday, regarding the alliance of tertiary student publications’ support for the call of “#10KStudentAidNow” and “#NoStudentLeftBehind”.
According to CEGP, due to the government's poor showing, illness conditions are getting worse, making it harder to obtain even basic necessities like the internet, electronics, energy, and liquidation funds.
As a result of being unable to address the needs of students who are on the other side of distance learning's socioeconomic gap, the number of student dropouts has increased dramatically. With that, many students have decided to quit their studies to pursue gainful employment and earn money for their families.
The additional P10,000 would assist and support students who require more financial support to ensure they can focus on their academic achievements amid the present pandemic.
“As long as the pleas of the people are unheard, we, the campus journalists will not cease to howl and protest,” CEGP said. SYNC IN
